Poor God!!! I feel so sorry for Him when He is asked to take sides during the slaughter and misery that we foolish humans call “war”. The perpetrators of violence, terrorism, and war, on either side of every conflict, tell their followers to pray to God for victory over their enemies.

Does God grant those with victory who pray the loudest and longest? Does God tally the number of prayers received from either side of the conflict and grant victory to the side with the highest count? Does God look into the hearts and souls of the leaders of the countries engaged in war and grant defeat to the country with the most dishonorable leaders?

GOD’S DILEMMA is great indeed, because there is very seldom any just side in wars where innocent people are slaughtered by the thousands. GOD’S DILEMMA is magnified when wars are fought because two power-crazed humans hate each other to the point that they are willing to sacrifice the lives of their nation’s youth to seek vengeance upon their personal enemy. GOD’S DILEMMA is even greater when both hate-filled leaders abuse God by telling their people that God is on their side and that God will help them destroy the other country and their people.

Fervent prayers, both for peace and for victory inundate God’s Spirit; begging, pleading, crying out, beseeching:

The Christian mother of the little Palestinian child, begging Jesus to save the life of her son who has just been crushed by a bulldozer destroying the homes of alleged terrorists…

The Jewish father who cries out to God to save the life of his daughter whose school bus has been blown to bits by a suicide bomber…

The Muslim doctor who vainly implores God to save the life of the tiny baby whose broken and mutilated body has been brought to him after the car he was riding in with his mother and father was mistaken for a military jeep.

Jesus wept when He saw that there was nothing He could do. God the Father grew angry at the mindlessness of war and of its senseless atrocities, but He could do nothing, for the dilemma of which side to take was too great, especially when the leaders of both sides were in blatant violation of His Commandment: “THOU SHALT NOT KILL!!!”

God’s human children of all nations across the globe, who are the victims of ruthless and arrogant men, bent on destroying human life to satisfy their lust for power over others, and over the dwindling resources of the remnants of Planet Eden, must lay down their weapons, join hands and PRAY FOR PEACE.

Perhaps God’s dilemma will be solved when only the evil ones are left to kill one another and when the lovers of peace refuse to kill on behalf of their leaders.

Perhaps those leaders who hate one another or covet the other leader’s power and wealth, should enter an arena like gladiators of old and fight to the death, while leaving the rest of us to enjoy lives filled with peace, and love for both one another and for God.
