Greedy, irresponsible, right-wingers, who would destroy the last vestiges of AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL, just to squeeze the last drop of oil from Planet Eden, are mis-using the phrase “RURAL CLEANSING” to paint those American Patriots (www.patriotnetwork.org), who would preserve and protect our great land for future generations as evil destroyers of rural lifestyles.

The fact is that SOME but not all rural lifestyles have virtually destroyed our great wildlife heritage, our ancient forests, our fertile top soil, our air and water quality and poisoned our people with pesticides and other toxic chemicals.

RURAL CLEANSING is being carried out by greedy multi-national corporations with no respect for America or her citizens. Let’s review who is actually cleansing rural America of her traditional human inhabitants.

1. BIG LUMBER: When the last commercially valuable trees are wiped from the face of the land, the mill has no choice but to close and the loggers and mill workers are left without jobs and the rural community dependent on the mill dies. It is wholesale clear-cutting and timber mining that is responsible. Responsible stewardship of forest resources would have maintained the mill and the lifestyle of the people. (Visit www.clearcuttersburninhell.org)

2. BIG CATTLE: When the junk food industry puts more and more pressure on livestock producers to grow more cows for less and less money, ranchers attempt to stay alive financially by overgrazing the land. Overgrazing causes the silting of streams, the death of native fish, the loss of top soil, the loss of native grasses, and eventually not only the death of the ecosystem but the death of the rancher’s ability to sustain his or her family and rural lifestyle. Responsible ranching would sustain that lifestyle indefinitely. (Visit www.toomanycows.org)

3. BIG MINING: When unfettered greed prevails in corporate America, our mountains are ripped apart, our streams are poisoned, our soils are destroyed and our countryside despoiled. When the last scoop of ore is removed and the mine abandoned, the jobs no longer exist and the people must move on. Rural cleansing is thus a product of greed and over exploitation.

It is time for the people to rise up and tell the mindless, unethical, neo-fascists to stop lying and stop pointing accusing fingers at the TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS who want to make sure that America remains strong and free for the next thousand years and more.

The ONLY way to preserve rural values and lifestyles is for rural people to maintain the ecological health and biological integrity of their forests, their grazing and farming lands, and the rural landscape.

Otherwise the corporate rapists and pillagers of our land will make the land uninhabitable for both man and beast and thus Rural Cleansing will occur, through no fault of the environmentalists who are trying to save both AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL and sustainable rural lifestyles.
